EASM SUMMER SCHOOL

The EASM Summer School is a great opportunity for students and practitioners to enrich their degree with new insights in the field of International Sport Management Industry, Business and Marketing, among others. Participants will have the chance to build up their own international network within the sport business and to work with colleagues from all over the world.

Attending the EASM Summer School means you will have access to interact with highly regarded academics and professionals of the sport management sector. We provide a unique educational opportunity as they deliver their visionary perspective, helping you broaden your views, improve your understanding of the sport management world and jump start your career in this passionate field of study. Participation in the EASM Summer School is rewarded with a 6 ECTS certificate

EASM Summer School 2026

Student Seminar

The EASM Student Seminar is an international four-day meeting and is a strong part of the EASM event calendar each year. It is hosted and organized by the local organizing committee of the EASM conference and typically takes place just prior to the conference. PhD Student Seminar

The PhD Student Seminar is a two-day international seminar and is held prior to the EASM Conference. The seminar aims at gathering doctoral sport management students from all over the world for mutual discussions and presentations of their research projects. During the seminar, the students will develop an understanding of the position and the progress of sport management and its publications. The students will also develop comprehensive skills in order to submit articles relevant for the field of sport management, and their publication traditions. What to expect in the PhD Student Seminar:

  • creation of networks
  • encourage future joint research projects across nations and establishments
  • gain knowledge of the rules for scientific publications in relation to sport management and your own research subject
  • be able to present research in an accepted article form
  • evaluate contemporary and future research designs and themes relevant for the development of sport management

Coordinator of the EASM PhD Student Seminar is Chris Horbel. She is Associate Professor of Sport Management at the Norwegian School of Sport Science. Chris Horbel’s research focusses on sport marketing, especially in the context of sport events, sport sponsorship, fan behavior, social media in sport as well as digitalization.
Co-coordinator of the seminar is Bram Constandt. He is professor of Sport Management at Ghent University. Bram Constandt’s main research interests include ethics management, corruption, and gambling in sport.

EASM Mentorship
Programme

Following the successful launch of the EASMentorship Programme in 2025, we are delighted to continue the programme in 2026. Building on the positive experiences and valuable feedback from both mentors and mentees, the programme continues to connect experienced professionals and academics from the sport management community with motivated students and early-career researchers.

The EASMentorship Programme was created to foster meaningful connections across the EASM network, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional and academic development. Through a structured matching process based on shared interests and career aspirations, mentors and mentees are paired to build rewarding and mutually beneficial relationships.

Whether you are looking for guidance on your career journey or would like to support the next generation of sport management professionals, the EASMentorship Programme offers a unique opportunity to engage with the international EASM community.

About the programme

The mentoring relationship is designed to be flexible and participant-led. EASM provides guidance and best-practice recommendations, but mentors and mentees decide together how often they meet, the format of their meetings, and the topics they wish to discuss. We encourage monthly meetings of approximately 30 minutes, but there are no formal requirements regarding frequency or duration.

In addition to one-to-one mentoring meetings, EASM will organise two group sessions throughout the year, providing opportunities for mentors and mentees to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from guest speakers from the sport management industry.

The annual EASM Conference also provides an opportunity for mentors and mentees to meet in person and strengthen their professional connection. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the EASM Student Representative Ashlinn Walsh.

As a mentee, you will have the opportunity to connect with an experienced professional or academic who can provide personalised guidance and support. The programme provides a valuable space to ask questions, gain new perspectives, and develop confidence as you take the next steps in your career. Topics may include:

  • Opportunities within the sport management industry

To apply as a mentee, you must:

  • Be a student (undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level) or an early-career researcher/professional
  • Hold a valid EASM membership
  • Be committed to actively engaging in the mentoring relationship

As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge, experiences, and expertise with emerging professionals and researchers in sport management. Mentoring allows you to:
