Global Sport – People Agenda Survey 2020

HAVE YOUR SAY!

Dear EASM members and colleagues,

Our partner, Global Sport, have launched an important survey designed to understand the changes to sport during the global pandemic and other current social and economic events.

The results of this survey will allow us to better understand how the sport industry is going to develop in the future. More importantly, Global Sport will share the survey findings with all participants at the 2020 EASM virtual conference in September.

The survey will take only a few minutes of your time and we encourage you to complete it.

With best wishes for a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.

4th ENGSO Webinar on CHAMP: innovation and sport clubs

For 1,5 years now our CHAMP project team has been working hard with the project partners to study the benefits of innovation and modernisation for clubs, and collecting examples of innovation that sport clubs could utilise. We are pleased to share with you the first project results.

CHAMP (Clubs for Health-enhancement, Activation, Modernisation and Participation) is an ENGSO-led project implemented in 2019–2021 with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. CHAMP aims to give the organised sport movement innovative tools and education for modernisation, offering insights of current trends and solutions for making more people active within clubs. The first project outputs are ready, and ENGSO would like to share them.

The ENGSO Webinar on CHAMP: innovation and sport clubs was organised on Thursday 25 June 2020 at 10:00–11.00 CEST (Brussels time).

ENGSO Youth: Interviews with LGBTI Athletes

Sport can be the perfect starting point in educating people, getting rid of prejudgments, and connecting people that would never have met in the first place. The key to a good sports performance is to create a welcoming and open atmosphere in which any kind of discrimination is never tolerated.

EASM-Drexel Global Classroom Programme

Dear EASM Members,

The EASM Board is delighted to draw your attention to a new initiative –  the Global Classroom Programme (GCP) – with Drexel University, Pennsylvania (USA), designed to enhance the intercultural and collaborative learning of sport management colleagues, graduate, and undergraduate students. This initiative is part of a broader collaborative programme with our North American colleagues. It is based on the pedagogy of global classroom and aims to introduce staff and students on both sides of the Atlantic with the latest developments in the field of sport management. At the core of the global classroom pedagogy is the idea of collaborative learning where students in an interactive way explore the structures, policies, business models and practices of sport management in Europe and North America.

The GCR is open to any member of EASM, and we invite expressions of interest to host one or more of the proposed topics below. Courses with 100, 200 and 300 codes refer to year one, two and three, respectively. The GCP uses modern video technology to engage staff and students in real time. The format of different session will be agreed between the hosting institutions. The plan is to make all GCP sessions available to the entire EASM community for free. We aim to complete the GCP plan by the end of July so it can run from the start of the new 2020-21 academic year.

Should you and your sport management programme be interested in participating in the GCP, please complete the table below and send it to the EASM office at office@easm.net

EASM Summer School 2020 Postponed

Summer School Update

During the last week, the 11th Summer School would have originally taken place in Madrid. Although we have continued to remain optimistic that the postponed Summer School could go ahead at a later date, the safety and well-being of our EASM community must always take priority.

EASM and its partners have continued to monitor the situation and navigate its way through this uncertain time. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the coming months, we were compelled to make the tough decision to postpone the EASM Summer School to next year, 12-16 May 2021.

We would like to thank the EASM students and community for its understanding and support during these strange times. We remain hopeful and look forward to the EASM Summer School 2021, in which our student community can reunite once again.

Most importantly, we wish everyone well during this challenging time.
