We would like to thank you all for your patience at this time and the positive response to the announcement of our virtual conference. The scientific committee have been busy planning and the EASM Board would like to take this opportunity to communicate the following new timeline.

 

Submission closes                                          1^st May 2020 (23.59 CET)

Reviews and decision released                                  29^th May 2020

Uploading revisions where required closes              15^th June 2020

Review and decision process concludes                    30^th June 2020

Conference program released                                      14^th July 2020

 

 

The scientific committee has decided to extend the submission deadline to the 1st of May 2020. We are unable to communicate the conference dates until submission closes as the time zones of various presenters will need to be considered. As you can imagine, this is a complex process and we thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

 

Finally, submission and participation to the virtual conference is free of charge in return the EASM community is kindly asked to consider contributing to an EASM membership and current members are also asked to renew their memberships for 2020/21 via https://easm.devserv24.de/become-a-member/.

EASM 2020 Conference Announcement

 

The EASM Board and the Local Organising Committee of the 2020 EASM conference in London would like to thank our community for their patience and understanding in this time of uncertainty. Although we have remained positive and continued to monitor the situation, due to recent developments we have had to make an informed and realistic decision on how to proceed with the forthcoming EASM events this year.

The decision has been reached that the EASM Conference 2020 in London will not take place this year. We are very grateful for the solidarity that has been shown by all conference hosts for the upcoming years which has enabled each conference to be moved by one year and look forward to the revised London 2021, Innsbruck 2022 and Belfast 2023 conferences.

Though the EASM community will not be able to assemble in the typical way, we would like to continue providing platforms for knowledge creation and dissemination and networking opportunities. Therefore, EASM will be providing complimentary virtual workshops and thematic sessions which we invite everyone to engage with. We invite researchers to submit their work  via https://www.conftool.com/easm2020/ by 17 April 2020. Further details on the timing and format of virtual workshops will follow shortly.

For students, this decision does mean that the EASM Student Seminar will not take place. However, we are fortunate to have been able to postpone the EASM Summer School to 12th to 16th of August 2020 and we encourage interested students to seize this opportunity. For PhD students, the EASM Board will be exploring the opportunities and solutions related to the PhD student seminar and will communicate this in due course.

Though we feel optimistic that we will be able to continue our community activities despite the current circumstance, postponing the conference will result in a significant loss of revenue for the Association for the financial year 2020/21. The existence of EASM and its liquidity is secured and we would like to ensure our members that the EASM Board is doing everything in its powers to reduce expenditures where possible, (e.g. on forthcoming Board meetings which now will be held virtually). However, in addition the EASM community is kindly asked to show its support and to consider contributing to an EASM membership. Current members are also asked to renew their memberships for 2020/21 via https://easm.devserv24.de/become-a-member/.

The EASM Board and the London LOC would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the EASM family for its continued understanding and support and most importantly to wish everyone well during this challenging time.

Covid-19

 

Dear EASM community,

The current pandemic is having  an unprecedented global impact on us. As academics we are having to adjust to home working and the demands of online course preparation and assessment; home-schooling, caring responsibilities for those in social isolation, as well as, in some cases, unfortunately experiencing illness. In this context you may, therefore, experience some delay in the processing and review of your research. Moreover, it is natural that you may need longer to submit a revision or a review to ESMQ. On behalf of the editorial board, therefore, I thank you both in anticipation of your patience and also for your continued support in these difficult times. Rest assured that ESMQ is fully flexible at this time in seeking to meet your needs.

Submit an Article to the International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing

Papers must be submitted and will be reviewed online via Inderscience’s online submissions system. They will be double-blind refereed according to journal standards.

Dear EASM Community,

We appreciate that the current situation may raise several questions and uncertainty. The Local Organising Committee of London 2020 in cooperation with the EASM Board is carefully evaluating the risk of COVID-19 on this years conference hosted at Loughborough University London. We are also following the UK Government’s advice on the situation, which is reviewed daily and appreciate that this might differ from other countries. For the time being the we are still planning to proceed with the conference at this stage, we will be sending further updates on any developments within the next two-weeks. You are still able to submit abstracts and register for the conference at the moment and we encourage you to do so. If the situation changes, we will explore opportunities for reimbursements and/or credit towards future EASM conferences in 2021 or 2022. SCOPE

Most human activities, including sports, are becoming more and more technological. Engineering in general and Information Technology in particular are important in the support for many activities directly or indirectly related to sport sciences, including improvement of physical activities, sports medicine, biotechnology and nutrition, sports management, and all other application areas in sports.

This conference intends to be a meeting point for both academics, sport professionals and practitioners to exchange ideas and develop synergies. Authors are encouraged to highlight the benefits of technology for sports either in general or in a particular application. Ideas regarding sports related issues using technology will arise from this conference. Papers describing case studies, advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques indicating future directions in sports technology are particularly of interest. Papers should describe original work in any of the areas listed below.

Accepted complete papers, presented at the conference, will be published in the Proceedings of icSPORTS, with ISBN, both on paper and digitally. All presented papers will be indexed and included in the SCITEPRESS digital library for increased visibility. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Both full research reports and work-in-progress reports are welcome.

Presentation format can be chosen between oral and poster sessions.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, addressing one or several of the conference areas or topics. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its technical/scientific contribution, and the problems, domains or environments to which it is applicable. To facilitate the double-blind paper evaluation method, authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper WITHOUT any reference to any of the authors, including the authors’ personal details, the acknowledgments section of the paper and any other reference that may disclose the authors’ identity.

Only original papers should be submitted. Authors are advised to read INSTICC’s ethical norms regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism thoroughly before submitting and must make sure that their submissions do not substantially overlap work which has been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will be rejected without reviews.

Authors can submit their work in the form of a Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research, or as a Position Paper, portraying a short report of work in progress or an arguable opinion about an issue discussing ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research focused on one of the conference topic areas. All papers must be submitted through the online submission platform PRIMORIS and should follow the instructions and templates that can be found under Guidelines and Templates. After the paper submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail.

 

PUBLICATIONS

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on digital support.

SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/) and every paper on our digital library is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar, Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic.
